School Workshops at the National Coal Mining Museum for England

NCMM for England

Take the Underground Tour to discover the working conditions of miners through the ages, investigate science in action, and meet people from the past... The National Coal Mining Museum for England collects, preserves and interprets objects and stories from the English coal fields relating to the coal mining industry. It tells the story of coal and the communities that grew up around the mining industry, and gives everyone a very personal opportunity to experience coal mining first hand.

School workshops include Living History, Dig Deeper (interactive session with a real miner), science investigations, and special school workshops linked to our temporary exhibitions. Other provision includes trails around the Museum site (free), schools loans boxes (free), videoconferencing, outreach service and family learning activities every school holiday (except Christmas).
