First Norfolk and now the World |

Not content with winning the "Best UK Tourism Project" from the British Guild of Travel Writers in December BeWILDerwood, the adventure park in Norfolk, has received a worldwide Award for Excellence, the theme park industry’s equivalent to an ‘Oscar’, from the TEA (Themed Entertainment Association).
BeWILDerwood won over the judges with its charm, attention to detail and for the joy it brings to kids playing in an unspoilt and naturally managed woodland play park. The Norfolk-based adventure park has now been recognised as one of the world’s best attractions.
TEA is a non-profit organisation that was established to connect organisations that engage, enchant, educate and entertain their guests and visitors with the creators of compelling places and experiences worldwide.
Nick Famer, President and spokesperson for TEA said: “The annual award is given to projects which are deemed to be of "outstanding" quality. BeWILDerwood received this award in recognition of achieving the highest standards of excellence”.
Tom Blofeld and Simon Egan from BeWILDerwood collected the Award at a glittering Gala, at the Disneyland Hotel in Los Angeles, alongside the likes of Disney, Universal Studios and the creators of the Beijing Olympic Games opening ceremony!
Park creator and children’s author Tom Blofeld said: “Receiving this incredible accolade from the TEA is amazing! We’re a little park in Norfolk and for us to be on the same stage as some of the worlds best players has left us slightly befuddled by how big an achievement building BeWILDerwood has been. It’s been incredibly hard work, but the effort from all our team has been rewarded in a very special way. We are all exceptionally proud and now have an awful lot to live up to!”
“We’re hoping to expand the BeWILDerwood story into other parts of the UK from 2009.”
VisitBritain's marketing director, Mike Bedingfield said: "Americans in particular generally appreciate the quirkiness of Britain and BeWILDerwood most definitely ticks the box as a one-of-a-kind experience. They spend an average of eight nights in the UK, allowing plenty of opportunity to take a trip to the East of England to experience an entertaining value day out with the children."
Since opening in May 2007, BeWILDerwood has caught the imagination of children and adults alike with its magical treehouses and imaginary world full of Twiggles, Boggles, excitement and adventure together with its richly told tales of ‘A Boggle at BeWILDerwood,’ ‘The Ballad of BeWILDerwood,’ and Tom’s latest book, ‘The BeWILDerbats,’ bringing the next exciting adventure from this rather curiously gorgeous adventure park.
